History & Facts: Used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. As the name implies, it was considered the "Angel's Herb". Originally from Spain and exported throughout Europe and the Orient. It was used for flavoring and apothecary and was also called the "Root of the Holy Ghost", since it was believed to possess magical powers. It is used today as a flavor ingredient in Cointreau liqueur.
Safety Information: Very powerful causing skin sensitization. Apply in very small amounts only. Oil is to be avoided during pregnancy as it can stimulate contractions. Not recommended for use on infants, children, or people with diabetes. GRAS is (Generally Regarded As Safe). Approved by the FDA as food flavor in moderate usage.
