Properties: Anti-bacterial. Although not as popular a scent, Citronella shares many of the same traits as Lemongrass oil. Excellent insect repellent and ingredient in many deodorizing products. Also used in many perfumery applications.
Possible Uses: Blend with an array of oils as a potent insect repellant. Can be mixed with wax in candles, put into a diffuser, sprayed from a bottle or used in other ways. You may also reference well respected Aromatherapy books for other therepeutic uses. Also used as a less expensive alternative to several other essential oils including Lemon Verbena & Melissa although many properties are not compatable.
Great with: Many oils, adding "pizzaz" to blends . Fennels, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Neroli, Rose, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, Ylang Ylang and many other essential oils and resins.
History & Facts: Really first used in the West in the mid 19th century. Frequently used in cleaning applications and insect repelling products. Citronella and its chemical components are also used in perfumery.
