Properties: Emotionally Balancing. Spiritual. Can give feelings of carefree happiness. Gives feelings of tranquility. Excellent bodycare ingredient both for skin rejuvenate and hair care.
Possible Uses: In a diffuser or smelled directly in small doses. Large doses can cause emotional extremes so use caution. Also can be blended with other essential oils and made into a rejuvenating shampoo or conditioner. You may also add a small amount to bathwater (with emulsifier).
Great with: Basil, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Elemi, Frankincense, Geranium, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Rose, Rosemary, spices like Cardamom or Nutmeg, any citrus oils and many other essential oils.
History & Facts: Derived from the latin word "Claris" which means clear. Known in the middle ages as "Oculus Charisti" The Eye of Christ. Used for hundreds of years to cure many internal ailments as well as in a variety of alcoholic beverages. More recently used as a tobacco flavoring.
Safety Information: No known toxicity. GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) FDA approved for flavor. Do not use if pregnant (with certain exceptions during childbirth). Exercise caution when consuming alcohol as Clary Sage has been known to increase its intoxicating effect. May induce headaches in high dosage.
