Properties: Antiseptic, antidepressant, diuretic, sedative, antiviral. Generally considered the most popular essential oil and for good reason. Has the unique ability to counteract negatives in the mind and body regardless of the mood, acting as a balancing agent. It will relax a stressed person yet invigorate the lethargic. Known to clear the mind and soothe the spirit.
Possible Uses: Used as a mood balancer, skin and hair care additive, household cleaner, sleep aid and many other uses. Inhale directly at night for restful sleep. Add a small amount to the bath for a soothing soak that will relax the body and mind and wash away stress (add emulsifier to aid in mixing with bathwater). Add several drops to laundry for fresh smelling clothes. Add small amount directly to any hair or body care product for benefit.

History & Facts: One of the classic Aromatherapy oils. Phonetically, its root means "to wash" which would refer to its cleansing ability and has traditionally been used to calm, relax and beautify. Originally from Persia, it is now grown in many areas with France and Bulgaria producing the two most popular varieties. Take note that so much Lavender is now used for commerical purposes that much of the material is now cut. This means either natural or synthetic extenders have been added to increase yield.
